...There’s no getting around it. “Avatar: The Last Airbender” Season 2 features a massive change impossible to ignore.
In the second season of Netflix’s live-action reimagining of the classic Nickelodeon animated series, protagonist Aang is a lot older. The character’s actor, Gordon Cormier, was a child when he shot the first season of “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” and has grown up considerably since.
That’s unavoidable, obviously, but Netflix is smartly weaving his growth into the narrative, taking it as a chance to show and older, wiser Aang.
...“Shooting Season 1, I was 12, so it’s really the fun memories that stick with you,” Cormier told Tudum.
Now 16, Cormier brings more experience to the role. That goes for his look too. His signature robes are back, but they appear rougher, as if he’s been through some scrapes and emerged on the other side. “Honestly, that OG costume, just all extended and super worn looking, is my favorite,” Cormier says.
Cormier shot Seasons 2 and 3 back-to-back, meaning they’ll be less of a distinctive age difference between them. It’s also allowed scriptwriters to craft a more cohesive story, one that Cormier says will prompt an emotional reaction out of fans.
“It’s definitely going to be a lot more action-packed and emotional,” Cormier says. “There are going to be some scenes that push the audience to tears, but also make them laugh.”
“We didn’t really know if we were getting Season 2 or Season 3, and now having both, it’s really awesome knowing I’m going to be able to see them again for a while.”

‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Season 2 Toph
Toph will be in “Avatar: The Last Airbender” Season 2, as confirmed by Netflix. Miya Cech plays the blind earthbending prodigy
“We make a point of reviewing submissions separately and after countless tapes, we both had the same reaction ... Miya is our Toph!” said executive producers Jabbar Raisani and Christine Boylan to Tudum.
“Miya is a brilliant performer who knows how to precisely balance the sarcastic sense of humor, stubbornness, and vulnerability that is Toph Beifong. Her physicality and emotional dexterity really put her in a class of one.”
