Fishers, based in Birmingham, has acquired Harborne-based Whittle Estates & Property Services for a six-figure sum.

Fishers currently manages around 600 properties for over 250 landlords with a team of 12. The acquisition will increase its portfolio to approximately 750 properties across more than 350 landlords.

The owners of Whittle Estates will now focus on their sales business, Hadleigh Estate Agents.

Founded in 1913 by George Fisher, the company originally operated from Birmingham city centre, specialising in lettings across the city’s Edwardian suburbs. It remained in family ownership for more than 80 years and continues to maintain links with the Fisher family.

Dean Taylor and Kay Venables, both long-standing employees, acquired Whittle Estates through a management buy-out in 2020. The firm has since opened a second office in Stourbridge to expand into the Black Country.

Kay Venables, director at Fishers, commented: “Dean and I are keen to expand the Fishers brand while continuing to provide the same personal service. Fishers has retained the ethos and values of a family business and we have Fisher family members amongst our client base. We see ourselves as custodians of the business and hope it will still be thriving in another 100 years’ time.”
