The Indiana Hoosiers are getting a key wide receiver for the future back. According to Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz, junior WR Jackson Wasserstrom has withdrawn his name from the transfer portal. He will be spending his last season of eligibility with the Hoosiers after winning the national championship with them.
Wasserstrom stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 175 pounds. He was a walk-on with the Hoosiers in 2022, and didn’t get playing time until the 2025 season, where he earned just 21 yards on two receptions and a tackle on defense. However, he earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.

The Hoosiers have lost a few wide receivers on the portal. Freshman Ace Ciongoli and senior Makai Jackson have put themselves on the market, with Jackson committing to the Liberty Flames. With wide receivers Elijah Sarratt and Omar Cooper Jr. more than likely to enter the 2026 NFL Draft, Indiana could have a big talent vacuum to fill in the wide receiver room.
However, Indiana has more than made up for it with their additions. They earned a commitment from Michigan State wide receiver Nick Marsh and Tulane wide receiver Shazz Preston. Preston earned 723 yards and four touchdowns on 43 receptions, while Marsh had 662 yards and six touchdowns on 59 receptions. With TCU quarterback Josh Hoover and Boston College running back Turbo Richard transferring in, the Hoosiers should still have an explosive offense next season.
As a result, Indiana’s transfer portal class is ranked seventh in the nation, according to 247Sports. Cignetti has always thrived fromt the transfer portal, getting guys like quarterback Fernando Mendoza (Cal), running back Roman Hemby (Maryland) and safety Louis Moore (Ole Miss) from the portal last year. Mendoza won the Heisman, Hemby earned more than 1,000 rushing yards, and safety Louis Moore led the team in interceptions.
